C25k weight loss success stories
I do run a track inside but it is a lot more difficult for me mentally. We went grocery shopping together, planned meals, and worked out together. It was accomplishing something I never thought I could. That whole year, I worked out, ran, did drills, and even went to compete in Nationals in Daytona Beach Florida. So, I used to think that leftover salad always went gross, but I recently discovered the key is not covering it in dressing at the restaurant. That year was the year I looked my best ever. At the end of the program I ran my first 5K, completing it in 41:58, 68th out of 85. I just wanted to be fit enough to run a 5k. I struggled with the 60 seconds at first and now my runs are 5 to 8 miles and I have run a sub 30 minute 5k. Three years later, I had begun to slack off a bit again because of my work schedule and such. My first 5k race happened to be at the 100 day mark of this journey. I started MFP and C25K at the same time with 80 pounds to lose. I graduated high school, and immediately adopted a very lazy lifestyle. that felt AMAZING. When Everyday Decisions Add Up to Something Amazing. Each session will burn somewhere between 200 and 300 calories, so not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things. But then I got a case of the lazies, and completed high school, and gained all of my weight back. I ate an early lunch and all was well in the world again. The confidence I got from becoming a runner kept me motivated to lose 35 pounds. Lots of info on those threads and a daily check in. Trust me, there are MANY more races to come. But going from not being able to even run 2 minutes straight, then running a mile straight a few weeks later.

Then running two miles straight, then three, then being able to keep up with my very fit brother and niece in races. To get going, all you have to do is 20 minutes of 1 minute jogs following by 1:30 walking breads. The weight loss during that time was maybe 10 pounds. Agree that most of that weight was because of calorie deficit, but for the deficit was definitely increased because of the C25K program. I would love to hear your stories just to keep me motivated and for anyone else looking to do the same. I started C25K around September 2013 because I had started cycling and was told that I needed to add some impact exercise for bone strength and because a lot of my friends were runners and I was envious. He and my parents, my cousin (who ran it with me), and my sister were all there to greet me at the finish line. Now, my long runs are in the 8-9 mile range. He gave me a membership to the YMCA, and he taught me how to use the machines. It was a trail run, over soooo many hills, stumps, and uneven ground.
